Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.

Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance.

In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Some believe that this stimulation boosts your body's natural painkillers.

I feel fortunate to have been born and raised in Vancouver and to continue calling the pacific northwest my home. Living here has given me a deep appreciation for many things including enjoying everything that the city has to offer as well as the beauty and serenity of the outdoors. My passions include going hiking and backpacking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter as well as spending time grounding myself with various meditative practices from Buddhism to yoga.

All of this has influenced my 20 years of practicing as a massage therapist for which I am deeply gratefully for. I strive to provide treatments that help you manage the stress of life by providing a massage practice founded on being trauma informed as well as in mindfulness. Your mind and body has the capacity to heal and my role is to listen and be guided by what your system needs to rest, recover and grow. I’ve trained in various breathing techniques as well as courses on stress and the nervous system such as Gabor Mate Compassionate Inquiry, Polyvagal theory and more. This is perfect for if you’re needing support while going through a stressful period of time in your life such as difficulty at work or at home or even general maintenance to keep you as resilient and content. So whether you are seeking release of strains on your body such as tight muscles, headaches and/or emotional strain such as anxiety and exhaustion I hope you’ll take the time to take care of yourself with a well deserved massage treatment.
